Access to fake media devices

Feature RequestBrowser Checks

We have a use case where we're interested in using Checkly to monitor a WebRTC application. For this application, cameras and microphones are a critical part of the experience. Fortunately, chromium has fake media devices which can be used in Playwright. It would be great to be able to access these from within Checkly tests.

    Hi everyone!
    I’m super excited to let you know, that you now can use Fake media devices, such as cameras or microphone now a days with Checkly!

    We’ve made Playwright Check Suites generally available, and here’s how to get started.

    On top of this, you also get full playwright compatibility: Projects, multiple-browsers, storageState, custom dependencies.

    One of your fellow up-voters, @alex@pixelverse.ch is already using them to run automated monitoring of apps that scan barcodes using the camera!

    This is an essential missing Feature for Meeting and Streaming Websites. Would be great to see this being added to Checkly

    This is also very important for us - like @Brian Hill we’re using daily.co and would like to use Checkly to test our video call functionality in Doozy.

    Hi team, I’d like to add another +1 for this feature. Checkly’s Playwright integration is just awesome, and I think it would be significantly enhanced by this feature.

    One popular use case that hasn’t been mentioned yet are apps that include barcode & QR Code scanning workflows, for instance inventory management, equipment maintenance, parcel tracking and POS apps.
