Standardized TLS Client Certificate Handling Across All Check Types

At the moment, Checkly supports global configuration for including client certificates in HTTP calls only for API checks:

This is a good solution for managing multiple certificates securely in one place.


Problem
For other check types like Multistep or Playwright, there’s no similar option. This means users have to rely on custom workarounds, which adds complexity and makes setups harder to maintain.


Proposed Solution

  • Provide a global certificate collection that can be used across all check types.

  • Allow these certificates to be referenced or combined with Playwright’s clientCertificates configuration when that feature becomes available.

  • Keep the approach consistent with what’s already implemented for API checks.
